Going back to School with Brush Strokes

When going back to school for the 7th year takes all the fun out of going back to school, you have to do something extra special for your tween! My soon to be 6th grader is very nervous to start Middle School this year so I knew I needed to make her something that would remind her that she is still a little girl in a growing body. Sadly, her growing body was not a good fit for the dress pattern we fell in love with! Good for one of her best friends however, because it fit her beautifully which brought smiles to both of these lovely ladies! So today, as my stop on the Back To School Blog Tour hosted by Sprouting Jube Jube and Lulu & Celeste I will show you my version tween style in middle school!
I wanted to make a dress that had twirl factor and yet still had a sophisticated look that my tween would go for. When I found the Zelt Dress by The Eli Monster I fell in love with the 60's vibe of the high collar and fun swing! My daughters favorite line in our SHOP right now is Brush Strokes by Holly DeGroot for Cloud 9 Fabrics.
Brush Strokes in Multi                    Geo Grid in Multi                           Canvas in Multi

Why? Because it screams bright colors & experimental style while nodding to the 80's and remaining just a bit romantical! We have outfits planned for each of the three prints we have in our shop - but the Zelt Dress screamed out for the sharpie marker composition book doodles of Geo Grid Multi.
It does not get much better than this! We added a fun little black belt to give the dress a bit more form.
This beautiful girl will be walking the halls of her new school with a bound in her step, confidence in her heart, and a twinkle in her eye!  I wish the same for all the littles, tweens, and seniors headed back to school this year! Enjoy the journey.
