Fishtail Kimono Double Gauze Cover-Up

The fun part about running  a blog with your friend is that you get to have two Pool Side Beach Parties! Leah used her new Super Tote by Noodlehead to get everything to the party and I brought the tween-spirit! I hope that you all are enjoying all the different stops on the tour. There have been so many fun and inspiring post so far! In case you have missed any....here is the lineup.

I made a new friend, Gabriela from Chalk & Notch, at quilt market and fell in love with her Fishtail Kimono PDF Pattern. As soon as I saw it I thought of making swim cover-ups for summer! I made no changes to the pattern other than to make pipping for ties rather than using a button. The curve of the hem on this pattern is pure perfection!

The back of the Kimono has a slight gather to it and the length perfectly covers their little bums. We are headed on summer vacation soon and I know that my ladies will be walking the strand in these cover-ups everyday!

I love how vibrant and joyful my ladies are and I wanted to pick fabrics for the cover-ups that are as bright, bold, and fun as they are! I also wanted to make the cover-ups with something light that would dry fast in the sun. I choose to use Lecien's Double Gauze and let my girls pick their favorite prints that are available in our SHOP right now. If you have not sewn with double gauze yet you are missing out!!!

So what is Double Gauze? Well it has been around forever and is traditionally used to dress wounds, but it is a fun new trend that is showing up in garments this year. Double Gauze is literally two layers of gauze fabric that are woven simultaneously on the loom or tacked together at small intervals with an unseen stitch. Gauze it's self is a lightweight open weave fabric. It is very breathable, soft, and has a beautiful drape! You can use it for baby items, soft blankets, summer dresses, and of course swim cover-ups!

As we all know things can get pretty crazy at a Pool Party and when you throw in tween girls...well need I say more. Of course the cover-ups got wet and we simply had to wring them our and hang them in the sun to dry while the girls played in the water. In no time at all the cover-ups were ready, hot dogs were made and fun was had all around! I promise that your summer will be better with a new double gauze swim cover-up!

I hope you enjoyed our party! We had a blast!!! Enter the GIVEAWAY below for your chance to win some party presents. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, & Pinterest to keep up with all our summer fun! Until next time...
