Pandalicious Mini Quilt

Katarina Roccella has done it again!  Another amazing fabric line designed for Art Gallery Fabrics - Pandalicious!
"Out of all the black & white animals, we’ll dare to say that pandas are the most adored – so this is a collection for all panda lovers! It is the two contrasting colors in their body that inspired the bold and graphic prints. The pastel and bambooey shades tint their habitat and make a delicious background in which they can play."

We are thrilled to be a part of the Pandalicious blog tour to promote and showcase the versatility of these beautiful fabrics.  With so many lovely prints in this line, I wanted to create a project that would showcase each and every fabric.  A modern mini quilt is always a good idea, isn't it?!

Art Gallery Fabrics generously provided fabric for this blog post.  They look so luscious stacked all together!
These sweet colors remind me of salt water taffy found in candy shops along the boardwalk at the beach.   Naturally, these fabrics pair  beautifully with Art Gallery Pure Elements in Mediterraneo.  With no particular design in mind, I elected to mimic the bamboo arrows in two of the prints.  Modern flying geese blocks would give me the look I wanted.  To get nice sharp points, I chose to foundation paper piece each block.  I just love the "stitch by color" feel I get when I paper piece.
To complete this mini quilt, I quilted in an echo design along the flying geese units with light turquoise thread.  This quilting continues into the blank block to add interest.  It is bound with the same Mediterraneo solid in order to keep focus on the printed "geese".  My Pandalicious mini quilt finished at approximately 20" wide and 15" tall.
This project was a delight to complete!  While I love the sweet pastel prints that play so well together, I must admit that my favorite fabric from the line is the bold contrasting black and white Panda print, Pandalings Pod Assured

Katarina has proven time and again that she sees rich vibrancy in the world around us with her fantastic designs.  She draws us to explore with her through bright colors and versatile prints.
